Presentation of the Swedish WJC Team, Part 2

Forwards

9. Mattias Tedenby

Born: 02-21-1990 in Vetlanda

Team: HV71 (SEL)

Height: 175 cm / 5'9''

Weight: 76 kg / 168 lbs

Shots: Left

Drafted: 2008 by the New Jersey Devils. 1st round, 24th overall

Statistics so far this season
Games played: 27
Goals: 3
Assists: 5
Total points: 9
Penalty minutes: 24

Eliteprospects.com describes him like this:
"Tedenby’s game is all about speed. He is a smallish player at about 5’9, but compensates this by having high-class acceleration and top speed along with amazing balance. Furthermore, he is also known for his excellent technical skills and willingness to challenge his opponents. A very spectacular player when he stickhandles through traffic. Hockey sense is good and he also plays with grit and is not afraid to lay a hit, despite his physical shortcomings.

Offensively, he knows how to find the net and is a capable scorer, but also a fairly skilled playmaker. In his own end, Tedenby should work with his backchecking and defensive play overall, as he sometimes is too offensive minded. Also, his physical game would be improved even more if he added more muscles and strength."

10. Jacob Josefson

Born: 03-02-1991 in Stockholm

Team: Djurgårdens IF (SEL)

Height: 183 cm / 6'0''

Weight: 85 kg / 187 lbs

Games played: 25
Goals: 4
Assists: 7
Total points: 11
Penalty minutes: 12

Eliteprospects.com describes him like this:
"Josefson is a highly skilled center. He plays a strong two-way game and is very all-round as a player. Hockey sense is excellent and skating ability and technical skills are above average. Nice creativity with the puck and Josefson is also a talented playmaker and decent goal scorer. However, he could use some work on his shot and not always look for the pass, but to finish plays by himself. Makes smart decisions and plays a mature game. Gets involved in the rough stuff and plays the body at times. Is strong, both physically and mentally, and stands out with his very good defensive game."

11. Marcus Johansson

Born: 10-06-1990 in Landskrona

Team: Färjestads BK (SEL)

Is also a speedy skater that does not shy away from the rough stuff, although he is not really a big time physical player. A team player with some leadership qualities. Has a shot he should use more often."

Plays with some intensity, but his skating needs some improvement. Is a capable playmaker that protects the puck very well and usually comes out with the puck from the corners and along the boards. Defensively aware and with leadership skills."

Games played: 31 (FHC) / 3 (BHC)
Goals: 4 / 0
Assists: 4 / 4
Total points: 8 / 4
Penalty minutes: 10 / 2

Eliteprospects.com describes him like this:
"An extremely hardworking player with top notch skating skills. Klingberg has very good size and accelerates incredibly well. He likes to drive to the net and although technical skills and hockey sense are slightly above average, at best, he creates a lof of scoring chances simply by using his quick feet.

Furthermore, Klingberg forechecks with great intensity and is a pain in the butt to face with his aggressive and physical play. He has good timing in his hits and takes good care of his responsibilities in all three zones. Could develop into a decent scoring forward, but is perhaps more likely to become an excellent role and checking line player."

18. Anton Rödin

Born: 11-21-1990 in Stockholm

Team: Brynäs IF (SEL and J20) and Mora IK (Allsvenskan*)

Height: 182 cm / 6'0''

Total points: 1 / 3 / 4
Penalty minutes: 2 / 4 / 0

Eliteprospects.com describes him like this:
"Rödin's offensive game stands out thanks to his superb skating, his shot, hockey sense and puck handling. Usually scores quite spectacular goals and does not shy away from playing physical. Could use some more strength though. He has the offensive arsenal to be a productive player in the future, but has also the fundamental skills to be used as a role and checkling-line player."

20. André Petersson

Born: 09-11-1990 in Olofström

Team: HV71 (SEL) and Borås HC (Allsvenskan*)

Height: 178 cm / 5'10''

Weight: 80 kg / 176 lbs

Shots: Right

Drafted: 2008 by the Ottawa Senators. 4th round, 109th overall

Statistics so far this season
Games played: 27 (HV71) / 1 (BHC)
Goals: 7 / 1
Assists: 3 / 0
Total points: 10 / 1
Penalty minutes: 10 / 0

Eliteprospects.com describes him like this:
"Petersson is a one-dimensional offensive player. A magician with the puck with plenty of slick moves in his repertoire. He loves to challenge the opposing defenseman and is good one-one-one. Petersson is a natural scorer, but at the same time delivers crisp passes. The only knock here, is that he sometimes is a bit too puck happy, and should pass more. What makes him even tougher to stop, is the fact that he is an above average skater with good acceleration and agility.

The major knock on Petersson is his defensive game, work ethic and consistency. He does not back-check enough and is always focused on contributing offensively instead. Also, if he could bring his A game each night, he would be able to be an even more productive player. Sometimes he does not seem to be inspired and hangs with his head. When on top of the game, however, he is a player that can do the unexpected and win a game for his team. Enormous potential."

21. Magnus Pääjärvi-Svensson

Born: 04-12-1991 in Norrköping

Team: Timrå IK (SEL)

Height: 186 cm / 6'1''

Weight: 90 kg / 198 lbs

Shots: Left

Drafted: 2009 by the Edmonton Oilers. 1st round, 10th overall

Statistics so far this season
Games played: 31
Goals: 9
Assists: 11
Total points: 20
Penalty minutes: 6

Eliteprospects.com describes him like this:
"Pääjärvi Svensson is a very speedy and skilled winger. His acceleration is top notch and what really characterizes his game is the way he drives to the net. In full speed, he gets around the opposing defenseman with ease and usually gets the puck on the net with a quick wrist-shot. Offensively, he is also blessed with above average hockey sense, nice technical skills and the ability to set up his teammates with passes. He is a creative player with smarts that usually scores quite spectacular goals and does things that are hard for the defensemen to read.

Defensively, he has throughout his career as a junior been considered as a sloppy player with not enough willingness to back check and to the dirty work. This is something Pääjärvi Svensson has worked very hard on and improved significantly. Today, he is in fact a quite capable two-way player that also battles for the puck and takes care of his responsibilities. However, there are still some defensive aspects that could use improvement. Size and strength is good and he has all the tools to become a dangerous offensive force in the future."

24. Marcus Krüger

Born: 05-27-1990 in Stockholm

Team: Djurgårdens IF (SEL)

Height: 182 cm / 6'0''

Statistics so far this season
Games played: 30
Goals: 9
Assists: 18
Total points: 27
Penalty minutes: 10

Eliteprospects.com describes him like this:
"Krüger is an exceptionally skilled playmaker with elite hockey sense. He likes to set up plays and find his teammates with tape-to-tape passes. Has become much stronger which has improved his game, although he still could use additional strength and muscles. Works well in all three zones and has leadership qualities."

26. Daniel Brodin

Born: 02-09-1990 in Stockholm

Team: Djurgårdens IF (SEL and J20)

Height: 183 cm / 6'0''

Penalty minutes: 8 / 12

Eliteprospects.com describes him like this:
"Brodin plays with plenty of intensity. Has good speed, drives the net, is willing to shoot the puck and plays the body. Has an edge to his game and is a valuable player for any team."

27. Martin Lundberg

Born: 06-07-1990 in Skellefteå

Team: Skellefteå AIK (SEL and J20)

Height: 185 cm / 6'1''

Weight: 86 kg / 190 lbs

Reminds in some aspects of NHL:er Samuel Påhlsson."
